Facts:
An Army Specialist at Schofield Barracks faced allegations that he repeatedly disobeyed orders and showed serious disrespect to a senior officer. The government treated the incidents as a threat to discipline in an operational setting.
Tim Bilecki put the Specialist’s service record and the circumstances of the incidents into the defense. The command had the allegations in front of it; our advocacy made it consider the Soldier’s otherwise commendable service as well. We kept the case at a summary court-martial.
The sentence was reduction to E-1 and 30 days of confinement. That was a real punishment, but the resolution left open the possibility of rehabilitation and continued service.
