GOMOR Rebuttals

Gomor Rebuttals

A GOMOR can cause lasting harm to your military future

A GOMOR, or General Officer Memorandum of Reprimand, isn’t just embarrassing—it’s a long-term stain on your character that will likely make it into your permanent Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) or AMHRR. The records within this file are rarely—if ever—removed. Even worse, it’s this file that commanders, promotion boards, re-enlistment agents, and just about anyone else uses to make their final judgments on your military future and standing.

Thankfully, the military offers a one-time rebuttal for any GOMOR that you’ve been issued, allowing you to explain the circumstances, context, and reasoning behind the actions that led to the GOMOR in the first place. Extremely successful rebuttals can eliminate the GOMOR entirely. Just as useful, however, is to convince command that the GOMOR should go into your temporary local files, or Military Personnel Record Jacket (MPRJ), which isn’t permanent and eventually removed.

The Most Successful GOMOR Rebuttals Are Written by Legal Teams

The Bilecki & Tipon team has read hundreds of GOMOR rebuttals over the years. Probably the hardest to read are the ones where a military service member does more harm than good to their cause. This is especially unfortunate because with proper legal representation, this fate could’ve been avoided.

You may not have experience writing GOMOR rebuttals. We do. The law firm of Bilecki & Tipon is second to none when it comes to writing extremely convincing GOMOR rebuttals within a precise legal framework. We’ve successfully rebutted dozens of GOMORs by discovering the facts, uncovering the context surrounding the events, and then making a case that all but secures our client’s innocence. And because you typically only have seven days to file your rebuttal, we act in the timeliest manner possible to ensure it’s received on time.
